An ‘Exceptional’ Day of Celebration in Lock Haven

It was a day of singing, dancing, joy and laughter at the 21st annual Kent’s Fest, celebrating the region’s exceptional students and hosted by Commonwealth University-Lock Haven.

An estimated 500 students came to Lock Haven to participate in the Out of this World-themed event that included a musical talent show highlighting the abilities of individuals with exceptional needs from Clinton, Centre and Lycoming counties.

Each of the 38 classrooms in the three counties that participated developed unique performances for inside the East Campus gymnasium. Students dressed as astronauts and celestial objects, performing onstage beneath hanging stars and planets — or sporting the event’s signature light blue T-shirts handed out to participants.

The event is hosted yearly by the Commonwealth University-Lock Haven’s Department of Exceptionality Programs and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) student group.

The event honors the memory of Kent Glossner, a musician and special education LHU alumnus who died in 2001. Kent’s Fest was supported by the Clinton County Community Foundation with a 2025 grant.
